The Ugly Brothers have ridden their last adventure in Southwest Scooter News.

The comic makes its last appearance in the December 2008 edition of the Rocky Mountain’s finest biker publication.

The creation of Denver artist and airbrush king Mel Fox, the comic has appeared in Scooter News since October 2004. Prior to the Ugly Brothers, Fox drew “Stems & Seeds” which also appeared in Scooter News for a shorter run.

South Dakota Circuit Court Judge Warren Johnson on November 14, 2008, dismissed the last criminal charges filed against members of the Iron Pigs police motorcycle gang involved in the barroom shooting of a member of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club during a barroom fight during the 2008 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Meade County Judge Warren Johnson is deciding whether Ronald Smith, Scott Lazalde, James Rector, Erik Pingel, and Dennis McCoy were in the wrong when they carried guns into the Loud American Roadhouse during the Sturgis Rally. A fracas at the roadhouse involving the five Pigs resulted in the shooting of Angel Joeseph Mcguire on August 9.

You couldn’t ask for a better stage.

On October 11, 2008, the weather was cool and overcast, with a light mist falling.
The stands were filled with motorcycling football fans; many of whom rode to the field.
The opponents were ready to square off—playing for pride…one side trying to end a three-year skid, the other looking to make a statement.

Bikers aren’t generally perceived by the non-riding public as soft in any way. But, we all know that when it comes to kids at Christmastime, bikers give and give and give.

There’s no exception to that here in Northeastern Wyoming, where every year for more then 20 years, the local A.B.A.T.E. chapter has sponsored a toy store geared towards helping create a merry Christmas for area kids who might not have one otherwise.

As the South Dakota legal system is dealing with charges filed in connection with a shooting incident during the Sturgis motorcycle Rally August 9,2008, at the Loud American Roadhouse, Those accused are answering the charges, and in one case, charges are being dismissed.

Prosecutors in South Dakota dismissed a felony assault charge against Seattle Police Detective Ron Smith in September after determining Smith was the victim in the barroom altercation that left a member of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club, Joseph McGuire of Imperial Beach, California, hospitalized with two gunshot wounds.

The kids at High Country-Harley Davidson in Frederick, Colorado, have been playing hard—and fast—all summer. All that hard play paid off in September, when they went faster than everyone else.

The state of Florida has seriously upped the ante for motorcyclists riding in the sunshine state.

Florida House Bill 137 became law on October 1, 2008, and carries with it very severe penalties for how a license plate is mounted.

The motorcycle-specific bill, which originally called for the confiscation of motorcycles used in cases of speeding and/or stunt riding, was hotly contested and prompted a series of campaigns full of lies and disinformation.

Even as the City of Myrtle beach, South Carolina was preparing for its annual fall motorcycle rally October 1-5, the city leaders were passing new laws aimed at eliminating bike rallies in the popular Atlantic Coast resort town.

In mid-September, 2008, the Myrtle Beach City Council passed 15 citywide ordinances intended to put the crunch on motorcycle rallies. The ordinances will be in effect year-round, but are specifically aimed at limiting, or killing, two large bike rallies that take place in May.

In Septmber 2008, the city of Myrtle beach, South Carolina, enacted 15 new ordinances apecifically aimed at keeping motorcyclists out of that city and killing the three annual rallies that take place there. The anti-biker movement is funded by a newly-enacted 3-mill tax levy added to property taxes there. Below are the ordinances and a a brief description of each.
