Mad Dog Comes to Town

Mad Dog Custom Cycles in Conifer is making big changes.

The six-year old independent shop on US HWY 285 is relocating to the West Side of the Denver Metro Area, and the name has changed to something more reflective of what the shop does, according to owner Mark Miklos.

Mad Dog will move into its new home at 15800 West Colfax Avenue—about seven blocks west of Indiana on Colfax, across the street from Uhl Studios and Planet Hyundai—and will operate under the new name Mad Dog’s H-D Performance beginning June 10, 2011.

“I’ve been looking to make the move out of Conifer and down here to the west side of town for about a year and a half, maybe longer,” Miklos explained. “This isn’t a spur of the moment decision.”

As for the name change, Miklos said it seemed like now was the time for that, too.
“I wanted to change the name to more accurately reflect what we do at the shop,” Miklos said. “We do a whole lot more than build custom bikes. The old name implied we were a custom build shop. That’s only part of what we do. We do service, modification, major and minor repair, scheduled service, tires, custom work—everything for your motorcycle.

Miklos has High hopes for the new location.

“You wouldn’t think it, but just being up the hill in Conifer really shortens the amount of time bikes can be out on the road,” he said. “So, if people are riding, that means we can be busy. Plus, a lot of our customers live down in town, so it’s easier for them to get to us, and we’re not that so far from Conifer that our customers up there can’t get to us.”
