It claims the title of “Colorado’s Biggest One-Day Motorcycle Rally.”

It just may be. It certainly is the biggest bike event is Southeaster Colorado, and a dominant summertime event in Colorado Springs.

“It,” is the 11th Annual Tejon Street Bikefest, a downtown street party that rock Colorado Springs for a single day every summer.

This year, the festivities take place Sunday, June 26, 2011, from 10am to 7:30pm.

As always, admission to the event is free.

The Tejon Street Bikefest held annually for the past decade in Colorado Springs is the State’s largest one-day motorcycle rally. “We Take Over Downtown” is the slogan of the day. Tejon Street from Platte Avenue to Colorado Avenue will be closed to automobile traffic from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm. With motorcycle only street parking, and an extensive vendor show, motorcyclists enjoy live music, a ride-in bike show and motorcycle rodeo games.
The extensive vendor and exhibitor show sells out annually as vendors from across the nation line the curbs in the closed 10-block street area. A vast array of motorcycle related accessories, gifts, novelties and services are available for all to see and purchase. Best of all, admission to this awesome event is FREE.

A Poker Run benefiting the American Cancer Society will begin and end at The Bike Fest.

The ride-in bike show is open for anyone wanting to show off their machine and compete for trophies and prizes. As this is a TRUE Ride-In show, the judges will DQ any bike which has obviously not been ridden.

“This is an old school bikers event.” explained Jim Wear, the event organizer. “We want to encourage real riders to enter their bikes and participate. We’re not looking for ‘show bikes’ as much as we are looking for daily riders that real bikers are proud to have built, ride and display.”

All types of motorcycles are welcome. Registration is from 9:30 – 11:00 am.

The motorcycle rodeo is as much fun being a spectator as it is to participate. Games including the potato race, slow race, ball drop, balloon toss, and the ever-popular weenie bite keep the crowd entertained and the competitors on their toes while they compete for trophies and prizes. The Rodeo begins at 1:30 pm.

“This part of the Bike Fest is just a riot.” said Wear. “Not only is it fun to watch, a few of these games are a real test of a riders skill. The Rodeo has become extremely popular at Bike Fest.”

The Coors Light Beer Garden hosted by the Rocky Mountain Motorcycle Museum will feature free live concerts all day, starting at 11:00 am. The stage will be set right in the street and will feature
The Jake Loggins Band, The Voodoo Hawks, and the Black Rose Band.

“This year’s line up of bands is STRONG!” Wear said. “Folks will be very happy and impressed with these three bands.”

The crowd is the judge at the Corona Bikini Contest with the winners sharing a $1,000 cash prize. The girls from Hooters will be hosting the Bikini Bike Wash all afternoon.
