The record setting heat wave on July 17 made for an excellent day of riding and perfect weather for the first fundraising poker run put on by the Pikes Peak Chapter of Bikers Against Child Abuse.

The event started with registration at Frankie’s Too where more than 40 riders showed up to take advantage of the beautiful day and to support a great cause. The turnout was great for our first poker run and we had people from Wyoming and Pueblo join to help support our fundraising efforts, explained Lucy, the event coordinator.

The run ended at the Shovelhead Saloon where the party began. Don’s Classics Sounds provided the entertainment and the crowd enjoyed the door prize give-aways, an auction, and a 50/50 drawing. Another crowd pleaser were the Hooter’s girls that were there to wash bikes for a small fee. Hooter’s also donated the food for the event. At the end the high poker hand winner, the 50/50 winner, and the Hooter’s girls all donated all or a portion of their winnings back to BACA.
