WINTER SUCKS! (PARTY)
By Joe Maher
In un-winter-like weather, with a few cars but lots of motorcycles in the parking lot, the American Iron MC of Colorado Springs held their “Winter Sucks Pig Roast” at Shovelheads Saloon in Fountain on Sunday, Jan 17th.
This is the fourth year for this event, and it was the first event of it’s kind in the Colorado Springs area in 2010.
“This party just points out that winter sucks,” Reaper said. “It gives us a reason to have a party, brings everyone together, and, of course, raise some funds for the club.”
This year marked the first of what is planned to be an annual carved snowman with “Winter Sucks 2010” carved into the belly donated by Bill Fee of The Nature of Things Chainsaw Art. The carving is already a symbol for the event.
“This is the first event of the year and it gets us all started for the New Year,” said American Iron VP Frosty. “It’s a good way to bring everyone together and get ready for the riding season. This party is open to everyone, and helps bring all the clubs together.”
And bring everyone together it did, with over 200 people making an appearance throughout the day, with many of the Colorado Springs area clubs being represented.
The food was tasty, the drinks flowed and the sound for music from the Jinx’s Band filled the air. All Rental Center donated the propane for cooking the pig. Plenty of support gear was also on hand.
There is no question that winter sucks for those who ride, but with spring coming soon, American Iron MC of Colorado Springs got the New Year started right, and the seed of anticipation for the not-too-distant riding season is now planted!
We can’t wait.
